Parkland Hosts A.W.A.K.E. New England Chapter Meeting on April 16, 2008

Topic – “Sleepiness and Workplace Performance”

DERRY, NH, 4/1/08 – Parkland Medical Center will host an Alert, Well, And Keeping Energetic (A.W.A.K.E.) New England Chapter Meeting, sponsored by NeuroCare Center for Sleep, on Wednesday, April 16 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in Suite #203, Entrance A at the Nutfield Professional Building, 44 Birch Street, Derry, New Hampshire.  Individuals who suffer from any type of sleep disorder are encouraged to attend this event. 

The New England Chapter for A.W.A.K.E. provides support and information to individuals who have sleep disorders including sleep apnea, insomnia, restless leg syndrome and narcolepsy.  All of these disorders cause chronic sleep degradation and consequent excessive sleepiness and fatigue.

Guest speakers and topics of discussion will include:

- Dr. Gergory Smull, M.D. of Parkland Pulmonary Medicine will discuss sleep disorders and the affect of sleepiness in the workplace.

- John Waxman, CRT of Sleep Therapies of New England/North Atlantic Medical will focus on “Sleep Apnea:  Overview, Treatment and New Technologies.”

- Adam C. Sonovick, B.S., RPsgT, lead sleep technologist at the Parkland Center for Sleep Diagnostics, will be available to answer questions regarding sleep testing and the Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) ExpressCare program.
